Cosmetic Brow Tattooing: Everything You Need to Know

In the world of beauty, brows have always taken centre stage, with more and more clients searching for the perfect set of eyebrows. I knew that introducing cosmetic brow tattooing to our salon was a great addition to our services. Investing in cosmetic brow tattooing provides a long-lasting, natural-looking solution for sparse or thin brows. This innovative technique allows you to achieve perfectly shaped and filled brows without daily makeup application. If you’re considering brow tattooing or have questions about the process, this blog will answer some of the most frequently asked questions to help you make an informed decision.

1. What is Brow Tattooing?
Brow tattooing is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that involves the manual or machine application of pigment to the skin in the eyebrow area. The goal is to create natural-looking, well-defined eyebrows that complement your facial features.

At Breathe Skin Body Mind we use and specialise in digital machine work rather than microblading, therefore, our work is very precise and defined as we place each individual hair stroke. Where most eyebrow enhancements add colour only creating a full block look, our treatments differ as we draw individual hairs into the skin under ultra-precise magnification, weaving microscopic simulated hair strokes among your natural ones in a bespoke pigment blend to lift and define your brows.

2. What is the difference between Digital Machine Brows & Microblading?
After a lot of research I decided to train and specialise in Digital Machine work rather than Microblading. Microblading, as the name suggests is using a small blade to cut the strokes into the skin. This can cause more trauma to the skin, resulting in a block look eyebrow. As microblading needs to be refreshed more often this can create tough scar tissue resulting in thicker damaged skin. Our high-quality digital machines have a microneedle to gently embroid the pigment into the skin. As our digital machine work is much more of a gentle treatment, this assists with how the strokes heal & also last longer when comparing to Microblading.

3. How Does Brow Tattooing Work?
The procedure involves a trained technician making small, precise incisions or deposits of pigment in the epidermis of the brow area. This process mimics the appearance of individual eyebrow hairs, creating a fuller, more defined look.

4. Is Brow Tattooing Painful?
Pain tolerance varies from person to person, but most clients report only mild discomfort during the procedure. We will give you instructions prior to your appointment to apply a  topical numbing cream to minimise any discomfort. After the initial procedure, some clients may experience slight soreness or itching during the healing process, but it is generally well-tolerated.

5. How Long Does Brow Tattooing Last?
Brow tattooing is considered semi-permanent, which means it will gradually fade over time. The duration of the results depends on various factors, such as skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Typically, results last between 3- 5 years. We recommend that our clients come back every 12-18 months for a colour refreshment to keep the strokes defined.

6. What is the recovery process like?
After the procedure, you might experience some redness and mild swelling. Your eyebrows will appear darker initially, but they will lighten as they heal. It’s essential to follow the aftercare instructions provided by us, which includes avoiding water, sun exposure, and certain skincare products for 10 days.

7. Can brow Tattooing be customised?
Absolutely! One of the benefits of brow tattooing is its ability to be customized to your preferences. We will perform a full consultation and map out the shape of your brows. We will work together to choose the color, shape, and thickness of your new brows, ensuring that they compliment your face and style.

8. Is a Touch-Up necessary?
Yes, touch-up sessions are essential for maintaining the appearance and longevity of your brow tattoo. They are typically required 4-6 weeks after your first appointment and then every 12- 18mths to maintain your brows.
