Bride-to-be? Check out Breathe’s top tips to be wedding-ready

There are so many amazing things to love about Spring, but one of our absolute favourites is seeing our gorgeous clients become beautiful brides. Spring kicks off wedding season and at Breathe Skin Body Mind we love the excitement in the air and seeing our clients so blissfully happy and in love!

We’re often asked for advice on getting ready for the big day, so here are some of our top tips to be wedding-ready. It all starts with the skin. Before you start thinking about the perfect shade of foundation for your big day, you want to make sure you have the real foundation right. What do we mean?

Your skin, of course. You know we’re all about the skin here at Breathe Skin Body Mind! Fresh, clear, glowing skin is the perfect base for your big day. And there are a few simple things that can help get your skin in tip-top shape before you say, ‘I Do’.

1. Hydrate!

Drink plenty of water – 2 litres each day is the general guideline for adults (unless your doctor has advised you otherwise). Don’t underestimate the power of H20 on your skin. Dehydration can cause your skin and lips to become dry and flaky. Your skin tone can appear dull and uneven, and fine lines may more noticeable. Drink up!

2. Be sun smart

We all know the serious health risks of too much sun exposure, so please remember to Slip, Slop Slap! But if that isn’t enough motivation – don’t forget too much sun is terrible for the appearance of your skin. It can cause premature ageing and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sunspots and pigmentation.

We don’t like to get preachy, but in this case we will. Always wear sunscreen, cover up with a hat and sunnies, and try to stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day. You’ll look younger (and it could save your life).

3. Have regular professional facials

A great therapist will analyse your skin, listen to your concerns and use products right for you. It’s ideal to have a facial about every 4 weeks. Combined with a simple skincare routine at home, this keeps your skin in great condition. It also prevents congestion in your skin, or dryness that can build up over time.

Facials can sometimes cause slight flare-ups in the days afterwards as your skin is purging congestion and toxins. It’s a great idea to talk to your therapist about the perfect time to have your last pre- wedding facial.

4. Get yourself into a fab daily skincare routine.

A great skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right products and 5-10 minutes a day, you can keep your skin healthy and glowing between facials and make sure it’s as wedding-ready as you are. Getting expert advice about the right products is essential. You don’t want to be using something on your face that could be harsh or over-drying.

You also don’t want to be trying new products right before your wedding day. Even with fantastic, quality products you can never be 100% sure how your skin will react. Ask your beauty therapist for advice about products to suit your unique skin type and concerns.

Tanning: Get your bronze glow the safe way

We know you need the right amount of glow on your wedding day – but you’re terrified of that hideous orange fake-tan tinge! At Breathe Skin Body Mind we use the award-winning tanning products from Three Warriors.

We’d recommend testing any spray tan well ahead of your wedding, just to be confident you’ll love the result. This isn’t one you want to leave to chance!

Wax on, wax off

If you want to be smooth and fuzz-free for your wedding day (and that tropical honeymoon!) it’s a good idea to have your waxing routine sorted out well-ahead of time. Like with other products, it’s a good idea to try them in advance of your wedding day.

You also want to use a qualified, highly trained therapist to get the best results, with the least possible discomfort. If you’ve been waxing for years, you won’t bat an eyelid, but if you’re new to waxing, we know it can be a daunting experience. We do everything we can to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

At Breathe Skin Body Mind we use Caron Brilliance hot/hard wax. It’s gentle and doesn’t grip and pull the skin like strip wax. This makes it more comfortable to use and many of our clients tell us their waxing treatment ‘didn’t even hurt’. That’s music to our ears. We’re not here to hurt you!

Hands and feet on show

Don’t neglect your hands and feet ahead of the big day, because they’ll be on show too. We know you’ve already been taking engagement ring selfies – so just think about all your guests asking, “show us the ring!”

A mani-pedi just before the big day will make sure your hands and feet are as photo-ready as the rest of you! We use the gorgeous range of Gloss & Co nail polishes at Breathe Skin Body Mind. The colours are divine, with everything from subtle nudes and baby pinks, to bright pops of neon and mysterious moody tones.

Don’t forget to love yourself too

Planning a wedding is super exciting, bit it can also be stressful, right? You want everything to be perfect and there’s so much to organise – the outfits, celebrant, venue, food, cake, flowers, decorations … and don’t get us started on the seating chart. It’s no wonder you’re feeling a little overwhelmed. But you don’t want to stress out in the lead up to such a special occasion.

Give yourself some time out and book yourself in for a massage (or a few) in the lead up to your wedding. Giving yourself a little extra time to chill out can take the edge off – remember you want to be able to relax and enjoy your big day! Self-care is important. Be kind to yourself.

Nourish your body with good food, get plenty of sleep and make time for meditation and mindfulness (if that’s your thing). Otherwise, catch up with your besties, get some exercise and fresh air and do the things you know will make you feel your best.

Enjoy your big day, gorgeous!

You’re all beautified and the big day has arrived. Now what? Just enjoy it! Your wedding day will go so fast and before you know it, you’ll be jetting off to your Hawaiian honeymoon, so make sure you take it all in.

Remember, the most important thing is you’re tying the knot with the person you love. How cool is that? The organising is all done and now it’s time to relax, get hitched and party!
